Cathy Birchall's World Tour Competition Page
Cathy will be the first blind person to
circumnavigate the world on a motorcycle and during the trip she will be
visiting various countries and sites. Due to this we thought we'd
introduce a bit of fun and an activity around the journey for people to
join in with.
We have been scratching our heads thinking of a way to engage with as many people as we can in this journey and so have decided to launch a competition. The competition itself involves you having to work out where Cathy will be on the 1st of every month (starting with the first of September).
You will have help in this from the two itinerant travellers themselves!
As the journey progresses written updates (with video and photo evidence) will be posted weekly. Not only will this information be available to help you but we will also be posting maps on the website of the specific roads (and route) we have travelled in the preceding week. Easy!
To win - all you have to do is to provide the most accurate 'guestimate' of where we will be at 12pm on the first day of every month. We will provide the GPS coordinates and maps on the web to verify our location.
The route to date involves departure on 1st August and travelling through:
UK, Ireland, UK, France, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Malaysia / Singapore, Australia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico, USA and Canada.
What do I win? Obviously we cannot give monetary value as all the monies raised will be going to the charities concerned. In order to give something to the winner we thought a signed picture from the location you have successfully identified could be sent to you by email. We are, however, open to suggestions of how to improve on this (email us with suggestions!) The winner's name and location will be posted every month.
To enter the competition all you have to do is to donate one pound through the Just Giving link at the bottom of this page. Clearly mark the month to be entered and the fact it is for the competition.
In the comment box clearly set out which month you are entering, the word 'competition', and then (in brackets) where you think we will be. Finally, add your own location (out of interest!). We will check the site and download all the entries and then work out who is the closest (in the event of a tie) to our location.
